Mabel Mae (Wilson) Ritzman

Mrs. Ritzman was born July 9, 1911, in Arma, Kan., to Hattie Windford Flaharty and Ralph Charlton Wilson. She married Carl Harry Ritzman, July 3, 1940. She received a bachelor's degree at Pittsburg State University in 1931. Mrs. Ritzman continued her education at the University of Iowa, where she received a master's degree in speech therapy. She taught speech and drama at Norman High School for 18 years, retiring in 1978.

Mrs. Ritzman was a member of the First Christian Church in Norman, where she served as deacon, elder and president of the congregation. She served as the first president of RSVP of Norman, president and director of acquisitions for the Cleveland County Genealogy Society, president of the League of Women Voters, vice president of Retired Teachers of Cleveland County, was a member of DAR, Order of Eastern Star, University of Oklahoma Women's Association, and an honorary member of Altrusa Inc., of Norman.

Mrs. Ritzman was preceded in death by her parents; her husband (1978); and brother, Ralph Wilson (1969).

She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Hattie and Joseph D. Fry, niece, Jeanette Parks, and nephew, Melvin Fry I, all of Garden City, Kan.; great nieces and nephew, great-great nieces and nephews, and treasured friend and former student, Ed Dixon of New York City.

Memorials may be made to the Cleveland County Genealogy Library, First Christian Church, Oklahoma Medical Research or Alzheimer's Research.
